Office 2013 and Windows 8 Tests

A few days ago, ECDL Switzerland AG released the diagnosis tests and the demo test for Windows 8 and for Office 2013. These tests are now available in German for all users of the portal:

What are the differences?

Diagnosis tests for Office versions 2007, 2010 and 2013 can be obtained on www.diagnosetest.org. I frequently get asked what the differences between the different diagnosis tests for the different Office versions are.

On the whole, the questions are very similar. The more recent Office versions contain questions which cover the newer versions' functions. However, the most important difference is that, for example, a diagnosis test for Office version 2010 would not work on a computer which had Office 2007 installed in it. That is why it is very important to take the version of the test which corresponds to the Office version which is installed on your computer!

You can easily find out if a diagnosis test would work on the Systemcheck .

Can I practice with another version?

On the other hand, it is not that big of a deal if you work on Office 2010 at school or during lessons, and you have Office 2013 installed on your computer at home, and you have to study with that. You should just cover the Office 2013 diagnosis test and study with Office 2013 at home. The functions in Office 2010 and in Office 2007 are so very similar that, as mentioned here, the exam questions are not totally different from each other. If you pass the Office 2013 diagnosis test well, there is a good chance that you will pass a real 2010 or 2007 test.

Features of the Office 2013 diagnosis tests

The structure of these tests is the same as in the tests of the 2010 version:

  • This test has no time limit
  • You may scroll between the test questions as much as you like
  • You may correct a given answer
  • This test can be interrupted and re-started later
  • Feedback will be given on the results page at the end of the tests
